Some interesting commentary (especially from the Jive guy and Lee) but what was that Laurent guy talking about? The organizers need to be more careful with their selecting of candidates in future.

I work with large organizations keen on trying a collaborative, participative tack. The biggest difficulty is that no one knows quite what works, what doesn't and why. The field is still so new.

My biggest takeaway from this session came from the honest comment by Lee Bryant that "no one really knows what works yet, but we know it's not a technology thing". When leafing through the latest reports from McKinsey, O'reilly and the like, I find lots of nice, sellable quotes, but never any stories from the trenches (as Simon mentions above).

So for me, the few concrete pieces of advice (and the clear message that we've still got a long way to go) were among the most valuable ideas I took home from the conference.

I really liked the insight provided by the panelists. They make a living of selling the stuff. We all saw professional market studies from McKinsey and other hard-nosed folks - but getting the word from the trench is a necessary and useful complement.

The skill that horoskop writers or women predicting your future using tarot cards must have is to say something which makes you think: "Yes, that fits to me/ I know this situation". First a bit excited you will follow reading or listening to the predictions, but the longer you give attention to them, the less substance or pragmatism you will be able to grasp.

I just felt a bit like this during this session. More buzzwords and heroism than goal orientation. Maybe some concrete use cases would have helped.
